To strengthen the ties of cooperation between the participating institutions of the network Bionorte of the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (MPEG) and the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), Amazonas (UFAM) and in the West of Pará (Ufopa), was the "Event of strengthening the postgraduate program of the Bionorte Network", on 28 and 29 October in the Auditorium annex the Amazon Unit of Ufopa in Santarém (PA).

 

The event discussed the scientific production carried out under the program in Biodiversity and biotechnology (PPGBionorte). On the first day, were held talks that focused the activities in biotechnology produced in the West of Pará. The themes were "Biotechnology for the Amazon" with professor Spartaco Astolfo, Son of UFAM; "The research with essential oils-biotechnological processes and applications", presented by Professor Rosa Mourão, Ufopa; and "advances in Neuroscience Research in the State of Pará", with professor José Luis Nascimento, the UFPA.

Presentations-Even on the same day, were presented the research "challenges for unification and provision of information about the potential • Amazon diversity biotech database Bionorte network", by teachers Sandra Zahir and Fatima Bigi, the UFAM; "The valuation of biodiversity and use of research results in Biobusiness", with the teacher Antonio Kamil Patel, Ufopa, and "Genetics and biodiversity in the West of Pará," explained by professor of Ufopa Luis Reginaldo Rao.

Strengthening-the round table "the strengthening of the Bionorte Network in the State of Pará in the northern region" took place on Thursday, 29, and was attended by representatives of Ufopa, MPEG, UFPA, UFAM and Embrapa-Santarém. There was also the "planning strategy for the strengthening of the Polo and structuring of joint research project", with the participation of researchers, teachers and students of the Bionorte Network of PPGBionorte/Stop.

The Bionorte Network-established in 2010 by the Ministry of science, technology and innovation (MCTI), the Bionorte Network brings together higher education institutions and research institutes of the Legal Amazon working for human resources training and the development of research projects in innovation, with a focus on biodiversity and biotechnology.

From 2012, with the PPGBionorte, which aims to train human resources with doctoral level to Amazon. In Pará, the Emilio Goeldi Museum is the Coordinator of the activities of the programme, which has 29 students and 43 teachers from various institutions, such as the own MPEG, beyond the Ufopa, UFPA, Universidade Federal Rural da Amazônia (UFRA) and the Instituto Evandro Chagas (IEC).
